Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, required.
• Experience in transportation and fleet management, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of the truck fleet to assure high service levels at minimum expense and maintain accurate records of shipments and drivers.
• Maintain accurate files on vehicle use, condition, and maintenance.
• Ensure tractors and trailers are efficiently utilized by developing delivery schedules.
• Implement an inspection program to safeguard equipment and a maintenance program to keep it in operating condition.
• Recommend equipment specifications and programs to improve fleet operation.
• Provide a level of delivery service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Direct clerical staff and drivers to achieve objectives and develop a productive work team.
• Match associates’ skills to work requirements and apply effective communication and motivation techniques.
• Participate in performance evaluations for promotions, wage increases, and terminations.
• Implement a driver safety program.
• Process bills of lading with correct charges and establish trip reporting procedures.
• Ensure timely creation and filing of Department of Transportation reports.
