About The Role

We are seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead and oversee our growing fleet operations across Texas. You'll build and manage our fleet maintenance program while staying hands‑on in the field. Our fleet includes work trucks, utility vehicles, and heavy equipment supporting job sites throughout the state. As the sole fleet management professional, you will be responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring regulatory compliance, controlling maintenance costs, and maintaining safe operating conditions across all assets.

This is a hands‑on, field‑based position located in the Dallas Fort Worth area, with regular travel to project sites throughout Texas. The role combines strategic fleet management responsibilities with practical maintenance and repair work. You should be as comfortable planning maintenance and managing vendors as you are diagnosing and repairing equipment in the field.

You’ll work independently and own fleet performance, maintenance planning, reliability, and compliance, and you’ll keep leadership up to date on fleet health, costs, and upcoming equipment needs.

Instead of being stuck at a desk or in one shop, you’ll work across active project sites where what you do directly affects how well the operation runs.

Equipment You’ll Support

You’ll oversee maintenance and reliability for a diverse fleet of work trucks, utility vehicles, telehandlers, aerial lifts, and other job site equipment operating across active construction and project sites throughout Texas. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and compliance across diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.

What You’ll Do

Fleet Maintenance and Field Service

• Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with established service schedules and manufacturer recommendations, including fluid services, filter replacements, tire maintenance, brake service, battery replacement, and equipment inspections.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems in the field.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on telehandlers, aerial lifts, utility vehicles, work trucks, and other job site equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain hydraulic systems, lift components, and material handling equipment.
• Complete required equipment inspections, including ANSI A92 aerial work platform inspections and DOT inspections where applicable.
• Respond to equipment issues at project sites and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime and operational disruption.
• Plan and prioritize service activities across multiple locations to maximize fleet availability and efficiency.

Fleet Program Management

• Own and manage the preventive maintenance schedule and service strategy for all fleet assets.
• Maintain accurate and complete digital maintenance records, including asset information, service history, inspections, repairs, parts usage, labor, and costs.
• Monitor fleet performance, maintenance expenditures, equipment utilization, and asset uptime; provide regular reporting and recommendations to leadership.
• Coordinate repairs and service performed by dealerships, vendors, and third‑party providers, including warranty‑related work.
• Manage inventory of parts, fluids, tools, and service truck stock to support efficient field operations.
• Ensure compliance with all registration, inspection, recall, licensing, and record‑keeping requirements.
• Support asset lifecycle planning by identifying equipment replacement needs, maintenance trends, and opportunities to improve reliability and control costs.
• Promote a culture of safety by ensuring fleet assets are properly maintained, inspected, and operated in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing diesel‑powered vehicles, heavy equipment, utility equipment, or commercial fleets.
• ASE certification in automotive or diesel systems, or equivalent related experience.
• Strong experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel‑powered equipment.
• Experience servicing work trucks, utility vehicles, telehandlers, aerial lifts, or similar mobile equipment.
• Knowledge of mobile hydraulic systems, lift equipment, boom systems, and other hydraulically operated machinery.
• Proficiency with 12V and 24V electrical systems, diagnostic tools, and computerized troubleshooting.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment repairs in a field or multi‑site environment.
• Proficiency with fleet management, telematics, maintenance tracking, or digital service record systems.
• Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, email, and maintenance management software to document work and manage fleet records.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• EPA Section 609 Certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Texas on a regular basis, including occasional overnight travel.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and operate fleet vehicles and equipment safely.

What Sets You Apart

• Previous experience leading fleet operations, managing a maintenance program, or serving in a fleet lead, shop lead, or maintenance management role.
• Experience supporting construction, industrial, or field service operations.
• Experience implementing preventive maintenance programs and tracking fleet performance metrics.
• Advanced ASE certifications, including Master Automobile Technician, A9 Light Vehicle Diesel, or Medium/Heavy Truck (T Series) certifications.
• Qualification to perform ANSI A92 Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) inspections.
• Professional training or certification in mobile hydraulic systems, including IFPS credentials or equivalent experience.
• Ford, Chevrolet (GM), or other OEM manufacturer service certifications.
• Manufacturer training or certification on utility vehicles, telehandlers, aerial lifts, or other construction equipment.
• Welding, fabrication, and equipment modification experience.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Forklift and MEWP operator certifications.
• Class B CDL or higher.
