The City of Baltimore, Department of General Services, invites applications for a Deputy Chief of Operations – Fleet. This executive role directs an extensive fleet maintenance operation across eight sites, managing a $75 million budget and a team of about 150 staff.

The position requires strong leadership, budgeting, and policy development skills to ensure safe, reliable city vehicles. Based in Baltimore, the role emphasizes strategic oversight of maintenance, procurement, and safety

Competenze

Bachelor’s degree in business management, technology, or related field required.
Ten years of progressively increasing leadership experience in asset management responsible for a fleet of 1000+ assets and multi-site fleet maintenance facilities.
Experience supervising multiple locations and managing staff across several supervisory levels.

Mansioni

Oversee day-to-day maintenance and repairs for a $40M fleet program.
Direct supervision of two Fleet Ops officers and fifteen Automotive Shop Supervisors across eight locations.
Lead the preventative maintenance program and manage vendor relations.
Oversee a $75M department budget and develop performance dashboards and FMIS data.
Develop policies for vehicle inspections and defect reporting to reduce costs.
Lead fleet operations projects and provide 24-hour emergency support.
