Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a Vehicle Diesel Mechanic in Dallas to support maintenance and repair of trucks and trailers, ensuring equipment is available and in optimal condition. Work with other mechanics or supervisors on technical repairs.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, brake and system repairs, diagnostics, paperwork, and compliance with DOT and safety guidelines. The role requires reading driver reports and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 to 3 years of mechanic or maintenance experience.
• Certification or licensing such as mechanic certification, CDL, or refrigeration license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle maintenance, component replacements, and minor repairs.
• Maintain and repair brakes, steering systems, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners, water, fuel, oil, air filters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tires, and other components as necessary.
• Perform facility maintenance duties.
• Use shop management system and other electronic systems available.
• Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer where applicable.
• Identify root cause of minor failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
• Interact with drivers to determine nature of complaint after task assignment.
• Follow all safety, DOT, and corporate compliance guidelines.
• Complete work orders and paperwork accurately and timely, adhering to SOPs.
• Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles and transport equipment back to shop for repair.
• Keep management informed of safety and equipment observations and concerns.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes using continuous improvement mindset.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and proper PPE.
