Job summary

Emerald Coast Utilities Authority seeks skilled Fleet Mechanics at Trainee, I, and II levels to maintain and repair a range of trucks and equipment. Positions involve preventive maintenance, inspections, tire service, and assisting senior mechanics, with progression to higher classifications as skills grow.

Trainees work under close supervision, I and II perform advanced diagnostics and lead repairs, including road calls. CDL and EPA 609 are required; safety and documentation are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Vocational/technical training or ASE student certification preferred.
• Experience with alternative fuel systems (e.g., CNG) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fleet Mechanic Trainee: perform preventive maintenance, inspections, tire service, and assist higher-level mechanics under supervision.
• Fleet Mechanic I: diagnose and repair brake, steering/suspension, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC systems; perform PM, road calls, and field repairs; mentor Trainees.
• Fleet Mechanic II: leading complex diagnostics and repairs; provide technical guidance and lead major repair operations; review work orders and ensure compliance with safety standards.
