Job summary

MMT Ambulance is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to diagnose, repair and maintain emergency vehicles and equipment in our Virginia Beach, VA fleet. You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs while documenting activities in our Fleet Management System.

Ideal candidates have experience with ambulance maintenance, light diesel and gas engines, and the ability to work safely in a high-demand EMS environment. We offer comprehensive benefits and ongoing training support.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Good verbal communication skills are required.
• Experience with repair and maintenance of emergency vehicles preferred.
• Proficiency in light diesel and gasoline vehicle repair.
• Ability to use multiple computer systems and document actions in MMT’s Fleet Management System.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, rebuild and repair vehicles and equipment.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Document vehicle records in the Fleet Management System.
• Execute major and minor repairs of defective components and vehicle systems.
• Source and procure parts through MMT’s national accounts.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Successful candidates will perform preventative maintenance, diagnosis, service and repair of all vehicle and patient transport/securement systems. Successful applicants must be able to work safely, accurately diagnosis vehicle failures and perform repairs, assist in inventory control or other duties as necessary.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Diagnoses, rebuilds, and repairs vehicles and equipment.* Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.* Documents vehicle records in Fleet Management system.* Execute major and minor repairs of defective components and vehicle systems.* Sources and procures parts/supplies through MMT national accounts* Maintain work environment in an organized and safe condition**Physical Demands and Work Environment:*** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.* The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions.* Noise level in the work environment can be loud.* This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.* The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.**Qualifications:*** Valid driver’s license and good driving record* Self-confidence, emotional stability, good judgment, and tolerance for high stress* Possess good verbal communication skills .* Prior experience with repair and maintenance of ambulance or emergency vehicles is preferred.* Proficiency in both light diesel and gas vehicle repair.* Ability to utilize multiple computer systems, and accurately document all actions in MMT’s Fleet Management System* ASE or manufacturers certifications preferred but not required**Other Duties:**Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
