Job summary

Winter Services is seeking a full-time Fleet Mechanic to inspect and repair our trucks, plows, and heavy equipment in the MI area. The role involves preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and ensuring all vehicles are safe for next season operations.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and electrical systems, with availability for long winter shifts and a valid driver's license (CDL B preferred). ASE/certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license; CDL B preferred.
• Willingness to work long shifts during the winter season.
• ASE or other certifications preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with brakes, suspension, exhaust, hydraulics, electrical and diagnostics is valued.

Responsibilities

• Maintain company vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
• Identify and repair mechanical problems and failed components.
• Inspect critical systems using standard checklists.
• Repair or replace parts such as brakes, belts, water pumps, transmissions.
• Plan and schedule repairs to minimize downtime.
• Visit job sites to inspect vehicles and equipment.
• Test drive vehicles to ensure safe operation.

Job description

Winter Services, a leader in the snow removal industry, is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a full-time, year-round Fleet Mechanic in the MI area.

As a Fleet Mechanic, it will be your duty to inspect and repair our company vehicles and equipment (trucks, plows, heavy equipment ETC) as well as perform preventative maintenance to ensure our inventory are running to the best of their ability and will be safe for next season operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains vehicles, which may include a company's fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, etc.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
• Performs tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
• Identifies mechanical problems.
• Examines critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
• Plans and establishes timetable to complete repairs and maintenance.
• Visits job sites and other facilities to inspect vehicles.
• Has a working knowledge of DOT requirements
• Test drives vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• A valid driver's license, CDL B Preferred
• Candidates have availability to work long shifts during the snow season.
• A great work ethic and attitude
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Candidate must possess a strong background in brakes, suspension, exhaust and emissions, light fabrication, hydraulics, electrical and diagnostics

Prior knowledge of skids, loaders, tractors, etc, is a plus. ASE/Other Certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
