Job summary

City and County of Honolulu is hiring Fleet Mechanics at multiple levels to repair and maintain the City’s automotive and heavy equipment fleet. Vacancies exist in the Department of Facility Maintenance (Automotive Equipment Service Division) and the Honolulu Fire Department.

Fleet Mechanic I–III offer progression opportunities with explicit monthly salaries: $5,678, $6,309, and $6,539 respectively. Working conditions may include weekends, holidays, and rotating/night shifts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent may qualify for Fleet Mechanic I.
• Certificate/experience credit may be given for ASE certificates.
• General automotive, diesel, heavy equipment knowledge and basic mechanical theory required.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on a range of light to heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Repair, overhaul and service diesel, gasoline and alternative fuel vehicles as assigned.
• Adhere to safety standards and department procedures during maintenance work.

Education

AAS in Diesel Mechanics Technology

Certificate of Achievement in Automotive Technology or Diesel Mechanics
