Job summary

MV Transportation is hiring experienced Mechanics in your area to provide preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repair of transit vehicles. You will work on steering, brakes, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, wheelchair lifts, and A/C, with a focus on safety and quality service.

Starting pay is $36.21/hour, with 40 hours weekly, OT as needed, full medical, vision, dental, and 401K, paid vacation, company provided uniform, a discount program, and clear pathways for career advancement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years apprentice level verifiable training and experience in automotive or diesel mechanics.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, examines, and investigates vehicles to determine causes of defective operation of vehicle systems and components.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance of vehicles.
• Execute major and minor repairs of defective components.
• Document all activities in MV’s Fleet Management System.
• Maintain work environment in an organized and safe condition.
• Possess a Class B Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement.
• Must be able to adjust brakes.
• Must be able to conduct all preventative Maintenance Inspections.
• Possess adequate set of hand tools.
• Able to assist in the service of brake systems.
• Able to service and assist in the repair of: electrical systems, drivetrains, engine systems, tires and wheels, air systems, steering systems, axle systems, cooling systems, passenger seating; fuel systems
• Able to service and perform minor repairs to lighting systems.
• Practice proper handling of waste materials.
• Able to properly document repairs and parts usage.
• Practice shop safety procedures and techniques.
• Suggest improvements in procedures and practices.
• Report all safety problems and practices.
• Demonstrate a team philosophy.
• Ensure work areas remain clean of debris.
• Able to use parts and service manuals.
• Able to read and understand MSDS.
• Able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
• Submit to and pass a D.O.T. physical.
• Submit to and pass a N.I.D.A. Drug Screen as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety.
• Pass a Company Road Test for fleet equipment.
• Able to read and write English.
• Accept other duties as assigned.
• Able to Obtain and hold a Class B Commercial License with Airbrakes and Passenger Endorsements
