Job summary

Winter Services Inc in Illinois seeks a full-time, year-round Fleet Mechanic to inspect and repair our trucks, plows, and heavy equipment, ensuring peak reliability for winter operations. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and test drive vehicles to verify safe, road-ready condition, with on-site inspections at multiple facilities and adherence to DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver's license, CDL B preferred.
• Availability for long shifts during snow season.
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving ability.
• Solid background in brakes, suspension, exhaust and emissions, hydraulics and diagnostics.
• Experience with skids, loaders, or tractors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains vehicles, which may include a company’s fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, etc.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
• Tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
• Identifies mechanical problems.
• Examines critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
• Plans and establishes timetable to complete repairs and maintenance.
• Visits job sites and other facilities to inspect vehicles.
• Has a working knowledge of DOT requirements
• Test drives vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Winter Services, a leader in the snow removal industry, is currently seeking a highly-motivated individual to work as a full-time, year round Fleet Mechanic in the IL area. As a Fleet Mechanic, it will be your duty to inspect and repair our company vehicles and equipment (trucks, plows, heavy equipment ETC) as well as perform preventative maintenance to ensure our inventory are running to the best of their ability and will be safe for next season operations.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess a strong background in brakes, suspension, exhaust and emissions, light fabrication, hydraulics, electrical and diagnostics

Prior knowledge of skids, loaders, tractors, etc, is a plus. ASE/Other Certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
