Position Description

Join Serco as a Fleet Mechanic in Lawrenceburg, KY! We support a large utility fleet by operating, diagnosing and repairing light duty vehicles, medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks as well as other equipment.

As a Fleet Mechanic, you can expect to:

  • Perform operational and functional inspections, repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform inspections, repair and maintenance operations on a variety of powered, non-powered equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ability to work on a diverse equipment set, which includes mowers, cranes, backhoes, trailers, trenchers, bulldozers, excavators, diggers and pole setting equipment, aerial manlifts, cranes, medium and heavy trucks and mounted/non-mounted attachments.
  • Operate and perform diagnosis on equipment, maintain and repair hydraulic systems, routes and replaces hydraulic lines, check system for leaks and proper operation.
  • Perform diagnosis and repair complex electrical systems.
  • Perform minor welding repairs when required in a field environment.
  • Perform routine vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance inspections checking, DOT inspections and replaces fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, etc.
  • Provide clear and accurate information when entering work order data into a fleet maintenance system.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Work under general supervision and is a self-starter.
  • The list of duties does not include ALL duties that may be assigned to this position.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • At least 5 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers
  • Must possess necessary skills to operate and interpret diagnostic equipment
  • Must have welding experience
  • Possess or ability to obtain Class B CDL within 45 days of employment
  • Must possess a valid DOT Medical Examiner Certificate (MEC), Form MCSA-5876.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Diesel vocational/technical school certifications
  • ASE Certifications preferred or capable of gaining certifications
  • Hydraulic experience preferred
