Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repair of a range of fleet vehicles, ensuring safe operating condition and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, maintaining repair records, and performing state inspections. Requires high school diploma and automotive repair experience, with EPA 609 and State Inspector licenses preferred. Candidates may need to operate tow equipment and work evenings/weekends as required.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of automotive repair experience.
• EPA 609 Technician Certification and State Inspector License required.
• ASE Certification preferred but not required; CDL may be needed.
• Texas Class A CDL Driver’s License required or ability to obtain within six months.
• Applicants must provide personal hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and services on fleet vehicles including loaders, trucks, and trailers.
• Maintains records of all services and repairs.
• Diagnoses vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic equipment.
• Performs state inspections and ensures safe operating condition.
• Trains other employees as necessary.
• Responds to emergencies and operates tow equipment as needed.
