Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Amarillo seeks Equipment Mechanic I/II/III to maintain, diagnose, inspect, and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment supporting highway and bridge operations across the state.

Qualifications

• 2 years in automotive diagnostics/repair for Equipment Mechanic I
• 4 years in automotive/medium-heavy truck or construction equipment diagnostics and repair for Equipment Mechanic II/III
• Associate's degree may substitute for 2 years experience
• Certificates from a Technical Training Institute may substitute on a year-for-year basis

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, inspect, and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment across Texas.
• Tackle preventive maintenance and repairs; use diagnostic equipment and welding where needed.
• Assure safety and compliance; travel to other shops as required.
