Job summary

Prince George’s County Government is seeking an entry-level mechanic to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on a range of medium to heavy motorized vehicles at the Central Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Capitol Heights, MD.

You will work under supervision, adhering to established procedures, with responsibilities including testing, drive testing, and completing work orders. A valid driver’s license and basic mechanical experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• One (1) year of experience/training in servicing, repairing, and preventive maintenance on medium to heavy motorized vehicles.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair/ service medium to heavy vehicle equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on vehicles such as cars, vans, small trucks and buses.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and service manuals to analyze problems and correct faults.
