Job summary

Prince George’s County Government is seeking an Automotive Technician I/II to diagnose, repair, and service medium to heavy vehicles at the Central Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Capitol Heights, MD. You will perform preventive maintenance, use diagnostic equipment, and document work orders under supervision.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of mechanical experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience or training in mechanical servicing, repair, and preventive maintenance on medium vehicles/equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Use diagnostic tools and manuals to analyze and fix vehicle problems.
• Perform maintenance, inspection, and repairs on engine, drive train, electrical, HVAC, brakes, and related systems.
• Enter work orders and maintain records in the computerized system.
• Assist in emergency snow/ice control and other essential operations as required.
