Job summary

Valley County Idaho is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join the Road & Bridge Department. This full-time role performs preventive maintenance and repairs on a diverse county fleet, from light vehicles to heavy diesel equipment, in a well-equipped shop.

You will use diagnostic tools and welding equipment, document parts and labor, and help keep county infrastructure safe in all weather. A Class A CDL and strong shop safety mindset are important.

Qualifications

Minimum two years of mechanical experience on mixed fleets including light trucks and heavy diesel equipment.
Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record or ability to obtain within hire timeframe.
Foundational knowledge of engines, hydraulics, air brakes, and basic welding/fabrication.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gasoline and heavy diesel equipment in a county shop.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, air brake, and electronic systems on construction machinery.
Test-drive and inspect vehicles using diagnostic tools; document parts and labor.
Maintain clean, safe workspace and respond to field equipment breakdowns as needed.
