Job summary

A1 Lift Rentals in Chattanooga, TN, seeks an experienced Mechanic to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and rental assets. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT, contributing to safety and uptime.

The role requires 2–5 years of hands-on experience, proficiency with CMMS, and a commitment to quality workmanship in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 2–5 years of fleet or heavy equipment mechanic experience with diesel, trailers, and material-handling gear.
• At least 1 year handling hydraulic systems and wiring diagrams; diagnostics and repair.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook; CMMS familiarity.
• ASE, OEM, or manufacturer certifications preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT/OSHA regulations.
• Experience with FC&C or similar CMMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, and rental lift equipment.
• Complete scheduled PMs accurately and on time.
• Inspect returned equipment and document renter-damage within 24 hours.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and coordinate outside vendors when needed.
• Schedule and prioritize maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Verify performance via testing before returning units to service.
• Maintain fleet in good condition and ensure professional appearance.
• Perform annual equipment certifications and DOT inspections.
• Document inspections and repairs in FC&C Software.
• Collaborate with operators and shop teammates to diagnose breakdowns.
