  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment; perform repairs and coordinate outside vendors for complex or specialized work as needed.
  • Schedule and prioritize maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and support safe, timely equipment availability.
  • Verify equipment performance through operational testing, test drives, and inspection of hydraulic, electrical, and control systems before returning units to service.
  • Support high preventive maintenance standards (90% on‑time PM completion) and assist in returning out‑of‑service (OOS) units to operation as quickly and safely as possible.
  • Maintain fleet and rental equipment in excellent working condition and professional appearance.
  • Perform annual equipment certifications and DOT inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with operators and shop teammates to diagnose unexpected breakdowns and coordinate timely repairs.
  • Manage maintenance cost by using warranty coverage and evaluating parts/service options.
  • Maintain parts and shop supply inventory, place orders as needed, and follow purchasing procedures for proper billing.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and pride in workmanship; maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area daily.
  • Follow all company safety policies and ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA and DOT standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education)
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
  • Two to five (2–5) years of experience as a fleet or heavy equipment mechanic, with hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing diesel vehicles, trailers, and/or material‑handling or rental equipment.
  • At least one (1) year of experience interpreting and working with hydraulic systems and wiring diagrams on heavy equipment and vehicles, including diagnostics and repair.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • ASE, OEM, or manufacturer certifications (e.g., diesel, hydraulics, electrical systems, forklift or lift equipment) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience with fleet maintenance software or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); experience with FC&C or similar systems a plus.
