Job summary

Midwest Energy & Communications is seeking an experienced Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of vehicles and equipment. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform emergency field work as needed to keep our fleet operable and safe.

The role requires 5+ years of heavy- and medium-duty truck experience, with skills in air brakes, diesel engines, electrical systems, suspension, steering, transmissions, and hydraulics. Work is primarily in a garage, with possible overtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Five or more years of mechanic experience on heavy- and medium-duty trucks.
  • Experience with air brakes, diesel engine repair, electrical systems, suspension and steering, Allison transmissions, exhaust systems, hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair MEC vehicles and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems quickly and accurately.
  • Complete emergency field repairs as needed.
  • Perform engine and drivetrain repairs and replacements.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Review driver reports and ensure required repairs.
  • Maintain government and company vehicle inspections.
  • Help keep MEC's fleet safe, reliable, and efficient.
