Job summary

Welsbach Electric Corp. of L.I. is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to assist with the repair and maintenance of diesel and gasoline powered heavy construction equipment and vehicles.

This is a stable job with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for additional training. Our shop needs a self-motivated, organized individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to handle all vehicles in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of direct automotive repair experience.
• DOT medical certification, or ability to acquire within 60 days.
• CDL and NYS Heavy Duty Inspection Licenses, or ability to acquire within 60 days.
• Must have own tools and transportation.
• Must be able to lift 25–50 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on construction fleet including both gasoline and diesel vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct NYS safety and emission inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment.
• Transport vehicles, parts, and supplies to job sites as needed.
• Respond to road calls and emergencies as required.
• Document drivers’ complaints and report vehicle needs to Fleet Manager.
• Process accurate, legible, and detailed work orders.
• Maintain shop and inventory and comply with safety programs.
