Job summary

The City of Mitchell seeks a dedicated mechanic to perform mechanical repair and regular maintenance on city vehicles and equipment within the Street and Sanitation Department.

Responsibilities include diagnosing engines, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, and other systems; oil changes, tire inspections, and keeping the shop organized. A technical degree or specialized training plus 1–2 years experience, and a valid Class B CDL, are required.

Qualifications

• Specialized training or technical degree in mechanics and 1–2 years of experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class B CDL.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain mechanical, diesel, and automotive equipment used by city departments.
• Repair engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical components, brakes, steering, suspension, drivelines, and body-frames.
