Job summary

The City of Pearland, TX is hiring a full-time Mechanic to support the Engineering & Public Works - Fleet division. The role involves servicing and repairing municipal vehicles to maximize uptime in a fast-paced public environment.

Compensation begins at $21.83–$23.63 per hour, with benefits including dental, long-term disability, life insurance, TMRS retirement with a 2:1 employer match, and extensive paid time off and holidays.

Qualifications

• ASE Preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Three (3) years related experience and/or training preferred
• Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Performs lubrication and filter replacements, general inspection and diagnostics, and mechanical maintenance.
• Disassembles units, inspects parts for wear, overhauls or replaces fueling systems and components.
• Replaces headlights and installs accessories; changes oil and filters; rotates tires.
• Inspects vehicle/equipment and reports potential problems; conducts safety/compliance tasks.
• Raises vehicles for access to mechanical units; performs A/C, engine, brakes and driveline work.
• Contributes to team by performing other related duties as assigned.
