Fleet Mechanic Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and perform repairs on fleet trucks.
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance.
  • Conduct diagnostic analysis and repairs on vehicle systems including electrical, hydraulic, transmission, air conditioning, heating, fuel, and mechanical systems.
  • Design and implement minor modifications to equipment as directed.
  • Maintain maintenance and repair records for all trucks.
  • Utilize and implement applicable technology to accomplish work tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of full-time mechanic experience or current attendance/recent graduation from a technical college.
  • Certification to perform DOT inspections within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • ASE Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Minnesota driver's license within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or completion of a technical training program in a related field.
  • Experience with diesel, heavy equipment, or electronic vehicle systems.
  • Experience working on heavy-duty trucks.
