Qualifications

  • Three years’ experience as a skilled technician; at least two years in heavy equipment repair and two in passenger vehicle repair.
  • Any combination of education/experience that demonstrates required knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and repair the City fleet including sedans, light trucks, heavy trucks and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Identify repair needs, document work and ensure safe, compliant operations.

Job description

Under the general direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the Fleet Mechanic is tasked with the operation, maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet; including sedans, light trucks, heavy trucks and miscellaneous equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An example of acceptable qualifications:

Completion of secondary education (high school or GED); graduate of a two-year technical school for heavy truck/equipment diesel repair. three (3) years’ experience as a skilled technician, minimum of two (2) years’ experience in heavy equipment repair, minimum of two (2) years’ experience in standard passenger vehicle repair or any combination of training, education, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license (Class B or higher) and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy; must have A.S.E. certification as a Master Mechanic or to be obtain within one (1) year of hire.
