Job Description:

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on diesel semi-trucks and trailers. Ensures compliance with safety policies, procedures, and legal regulations. May assist less experienced mechanics with basic preventive maintenance as needed.

Here’s what you’ll do:

1. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on semi-trucks and trailers safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, including overhaul and repair of engines, transmissions, cooling systems, steering systems, air systems, trailer refrigeration, and other heavy-duty systems.
2. Inspect and diagnose failures of tractors and trailers; disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts.
3. Employ proper troubleshooting procedures to determine when parts need replacement or repairs.
4. Complete maintenance documentation such as work orders, test reports, parts inventory, and logs.
5. Prepare and complete DOT inspections and related paperwork accurately and timely.
6. Use technical data, diagrams, and manuals to solve complex problems.
7. Mentor and train less experienced mechanics on procedures and repairs.
8. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
9. Ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies and stay updated on relevant regulations (DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
10. Additional responsibilities as assigned, including obtaining certifications for 608 & 609.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1. Commercial Driver's License A or B (preferred).
2. Proficiency with mechanical tools and necessary tools to maintain and repair equipment.
3. At least three years of diesel mechanic experience; technical school certification a plus.
4. Ability to listen, visually inspect, and diagnose equipment needs.
5. Ability to read schematics and perform welding; advanced knowledge of diesel mechanics preferred.
6. Accurate and complete task performance.
7. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Knowledge of OSHA and DOT standards and regulations.
9. Ability to follow directions, work well with others, and perform under pressure.
10. Assist in training technicians on policies and procedures.
11. Necessary mechanic tools to perform repairs.
12. Welding knowledge and certifications or ability to obtain them.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, handling objects, and repetitive foot movements. Must lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. Work environment may involve temperature changes, noise, and exposure to warehouse conditions. Must be available for weekends, holidays, and overtime, with travel as required.
