Qualifications

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights of at least 13 ft 6 in.
  • Certification for brakes and refrigeration preferred.
  • CDL is a plus.

We are currently looking for a Full-time Fleet Mechanic in our Transportation Maintenance Department!! The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the repair of all safety and mechanical defects in our tractor-trailer equipment.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following :

  • Diagnose mechanical problems and make appropriate repairs, generally unassisted.
  • Read and understand technical and electrical manuals.
  • Use written communication to describe work performed and parts used on Work Orders and / or other documentation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Use oral communication with co-workers and management when working on "team projects" and / or describing problems encountered and work accomplished.
  • Make repairs away from the shop when a break-down occurs on the road.
  • Requirements

  • HS diploma / GED required
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights of at least 13 ft and 6 in
  • Must be able to manipulate bolts, screws, hand tools, heavy parts and machinery, truck tires, heavy equipment, etc., throughout the workday
  • Must continuously protect the environment when working with contaminating substances.
  • Certification for brakes and refrigeration is preferred.
  • CDL is a plus
  • Must be able to use the tools and equipment generally associated with the job of a Tractor-Trailer mechanic.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, bend, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, and use hands and fingers to grasp and feel. The employee is required as needed to frequently lift and / or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    The Fleet Mechanic will work outdoors at times while making tractor / trailer repairs and is often exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures.
