City of Anna, Texas seeks an experienced Automotive Maintenance Technician to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair light and heavy vehicles and equipment across the city fleet.   • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Test, service, and repair light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace components; perform welding or specialized repairs as needed.
  • Provide engine tune-ups for EFI, diesel, and gasoline engines using diagnostic tools.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and lubrication checks.
  • Maintain records of materials used and update equipment logs.
  • Manage fleet inventory and maintenance strategy for City vehicles and equipment.
  • Enter work orders and track daily maintenance in a computer-based program.
  • Adhere to City and Department attendance and personnel rules.
  • Complete CJIS clearance and other required background checks.

Job description

  • Test, service, and repair light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust, and/or replace necessary components and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work.
  • Replace and rebuild defective, worn engine parts requiring welding or other specialized skills.
  • Provide mechanical repair including engine tune ups in electronic fuel injection systems and diesel/gasoline engines using appropriate electronic diagnostic tools such as computerized trouble shooting equipment and calibration lights.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance including all types of fluid level checks and lubrication checks.
  • Maintain records of materials used on the job; document equipment conditions and status' updates any change and submit logs as required; inform management of materials needed to perform job.
  • Manage Fleet inventory and develop strategy for maintaining and repairing the City's vehicles and equipment.
  • Enter work order updates and progress in a computer-based maintenance program. Log completed daily maintenance.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensure all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

High school or GED, with at least three (3) years of paid professional experience in automotive mechanical work requiring heavy and light-duty equipment diagnostics and repairs.

Basic: Word Processing/Typing is required.

Must possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or can obtain within 12 months of hire or promotion.

Must possess at least one (1) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification or can obtain within 12 months of hire or promotion.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Texas Driver's License.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.

Must be able to successfully complete Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance.

Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, driver's license/cdl, etc.)
