Job summary

Town of Apple Valley is seeking a journey-level maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the town's vehicles, heavy equipment, and related tools. Under general supervision, you will work with a mid-size fleet and use power tools to keep equipment in safe, reliable condition.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least four years of municipal vehicle maintenance experience, with license readiness for a Class B CDL and endorsements as needed.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade and four (4) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and heavy equipment within a municipal operation; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience working with power tools and a mid-size fleet inventory is highly desired.

Requirements

• Valid California class C driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance.
• Ability to obtain a class B Commercial driver license with tanker, air brake, and standard transmission endorsements within a timeframe specified by the Town.
• On an as needed basis, may need to work weekends, holidays, or after hours.
