Job summary

Warren Transport, Inc. in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Fleet Manager to own an assigned fleet of independent contractors. This role focuses on building relationships with drivers, coordinating loads, and driving profitability and safety.

You’ll engage with drivers to resolve issues, monitor performance metrics, and partner with internal teams to ensure seamless operations. A four-year degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coach a fleet of drivers with focus on safety, service, retention and profitability.
• Build relationships with contractors and be their go-to resource.
• Own each load from dispatch through delivery.
• Communicate load expectations, changes and customer requirements.
• Work with Load Planning to identify and sell opportunities to drivers.
• Monitor metrics like on-time delivery, miles, revenue, safety and turnover.
• Navigate permits, service issues, tickets, border crossings and challenges.
• Ensure DOT and safety compliance and promote Safety First.
• Advocate for drivers and resolve issues with internal teams.

Warren Transport is looking for a Fleet Manager to join our operations team and take ownership of an assigned fleet of independent contractors.

What You'll Do

• Manage and coach a fleet of drivers with a focus on safety, service, retention, and profitability
• Build strong relationships with contractors and become their go-to resource
• Own each load from dispatch through delivery
• Communicate load expectations, changes, and customer requirements
• Work with Load Planning to identify and sell load opportunities to drivers
• Monitor key performance metrics including on-time delivery, miles, revenue, safety, and turnover
• Help drivers navigate permits, service issues, tickets, border crossings, and other challenges
• Address DOT and safety-related issues and ensure compliance requirements are met
• Advocate for drivers while partnering with internal teams to resolve issues
• Demonstrate and promote Warren's Safety First culture
• Identify opportunities for improvement and take action when performance isn't meeting expectations
