The Fleet Manager will lead and oversee all fleet and equipment management activities supporting design-build data center construction projects, including data hall fit outs, delivered under fast-paced and schedule‑critical environments. This role ensures alignment with organizational goals, operational efficiency, cost control, and equipment readiness across all active projects. The position requires proactive planning, real‑time tracking of fleet utilization, and close collaboration with project teams and vendors to support reliable project execution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement fleet management strategies that align with organizational objectives, project schedules, and the unique demands of mission‑critical data center construction environments.
- Fleet Operations Management: Oversee the procurement, deployment, maintenance, and utilization of company vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment to ensure availability and reliability across all projects.
- Asset Tracking: Implement and manage systems for tracking fleet and equipment usage, location, maintenance schedules, and lifecycle status to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
- Cost Control: Monitor and manage fleet‑related expenses, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, rentals, and replacements, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to project budgets.
- Maintenance Oversight: Establish and enforce preventive maintenance programs to ensure all fleet assets are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with equipment suppliers, rental companies, and service providers to secure competitive pricing, timely service, and reliable equipment availability.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to equipment failure, safety, compliance, and project delays by implementing proactive fleet management practices.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with project teams, field staff, and leadership regarding fleet availability, constraints, and performance.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all fleet operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing, inspections, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Technology Integration: Leverage fleet management software, telematics, and reporting tools to enhance visibility, improve decision‑making, and streamline operations.
- Team Leadership: Support and coordinate with field personnel, drivers, and equipment operators, promoting accountability, safety, and efficient use of company assets.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize data, lessons learned, and industry best practices to improve fleet performance, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in fleet management, equipment management, or construction operations, preferably within design‑build or mission‑critical/data center projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in fleet management software, telematics systems, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore) is a plus.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction equipment, vehicle operations, maintenance practices, and safety requirements; experience supporting data center or mission‑critical projects preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to coordinate across teams, manage vendors, and support efficient, high‑performance operations.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or equivalent are a plus.
