We’re looking for a Fleet Maintenance Technician who will drive the maintenance, repair and optimization of our fleet of advanced robotic systems. The goal is to ensure peek performance of our fleet in terms of electrical and mechanical upkeep with minimal downtime.
The ideal and successful candidate will have a blend of mechanical and electrical expertise, be highly detail-oriented, and possess excellent problem-solving skills to address a variety of complex technical challenges in a dynamic, high-tech environment.
Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Technician (Hourly)
Job Overview:
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician at Physical Intelligence, you will play a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing the performance of our fleet of advanced robotic systems. You will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical upkeep of robotic platforms, ensuring they are running at peak performance and minimizing downtime. This role requires strong technical skills in both mechanical systems and electrical components, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and hands-on repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems within robotic fleets, including wiring, circuits, power supplies, sensors, and control systems.
- Conduct regular electrical inspections and preventive maintenance on robotic units to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to locate issues and install or upgrade components.
- Perform tests on electrical systems using diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other specialized equipment.
Mechanical Maintenance:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical components such as actuators, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and moving parts within the fleet.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure robotic systems are operating within specifications.
- Oversee mechanical adjustments, alignments, and calibrations of robotic components to meet operational standards.
- Replace worn or defective parts and conduct system upgrades as necessary.
Fleet Optimization:
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for improving the efficiency, durability, and performance of the robotic fleet.
- Develop and implement fleet maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize operational uptime.
- Analyze failure modes and root causes of system breakdowns, proposing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain thorough documentation of repairs, part replacements, and maintenance activities using a computerized maintenance management system.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Train team members and operators on basic troubleshooting, safety procedures, and best practices for handling robotic systems.
- Identify potential safety hazards and initiate corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- A bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Relevant certifications in electrical or mechanical systems (e.g., ASE, NATE, etc.) are preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance, with a strong background in robotics, automation, or a related industry.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems (AC/DC motors, wiring, controllers) and mechanical components (motors, gears, bearings).
- Experience working with diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PLCs.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and industrial-grade equipment.
- Familiarity with robotics systems, automation technologies, and fleet management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
This role requires the ability to work in an industrial setting that may involve exposure to noise, dust, grease, and various machine components.
Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting heavy components (up to 50 lbs), and performing repairs in confined spaces.
Compensation:
$40-$45 USD per hour
