Merrell Bros., Inc. Florida Division is seeking a full-time Fleet Maintenance Technician. Ideal candidates will have experience as a diesel mechanic for heavy Class 8 vehicles, with knowledge of PM requirements and a CDL license is a plus.

This role focuses on operation and maintenance of semi tractors and trailers, performing preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and timely repairs while ensuring safety protocols and PPE are consistently followed on site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of diesel technician and/or maintenance experience.
  • Preventative maintenance expertise.
  • Computer diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of shop equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Deadline and detail oriented.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl along with intermittent standing, sitting, pushing and pulling.
  • Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Valid Driver license and clean driving record (MVR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor level repairs on trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on semi-trucks/trailers.
  • Perform DOT Inspections, including safety and brake inspections.
  • Perform scheduled service, and oil changes.
  • Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs in a timely manner.
  • Performing electrical system repairs on vehicles.
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on vehicles.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations.
  • Document vehicle records and report both manually and via computer.
  • Advocate safety protocols and document findings.
  • Ensure all personnel are compliant and wearing all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the specific work activity being performed.
  • Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions.
