Job summary

Southport Truck Group seeks a Mobile Diesel Truck Technician to provide high-quality repair services for Freightliner and Western Star trucks in Fort Myers, FL. The role is full-time and involves hands-on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and customer-focused service.

You will document work, stay current with OEM training, and adhere to safety and quality standards while supporting other technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience working on heavy/medium duty trucks or formal training from technical school.
• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in heavy/medium duty trucks.
• Possess work-related hand tools.
• A neat and organized approach to work & reporting.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance requirement.
• Ability to spend prolonged periods standing or walking with lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to drive company and customer vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair general heavy and medium-duty trucks.
• Document repairs and track time in the in-house system via a repair order.
• Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
• Tag and document warranty and core items appropriately.
• Assist other Technicians in more difficult maintenance tasks.
• Maintain and enhance mechanical knowledge and OE training.
• Adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures.
• Quality inspection tests on repaired vehicles.

Salary Range: $20.00 To $45.00 Hourly

A Mobile Diesel Truck Technician is responsible for providing the highest quality repair services to Southport Truck Group’s customers and maintaining exceptional customer service. Servicing dedicated brands of Freightliner and Western Star trucks.

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair general heavy and medium-duty trucks
• Document all repairs and pertinent information to the work performed and track job time on in-house business system(s) via a repair order
• Perform preventive maintenance as needed
• Tag and document all warranty and core items appropriately
• Assist other Technicians in more difficult and complex maintenance and repair tasks if needed
• Maintain and enhance mechanical knowledge and stay current on required OE training
• Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
• Adhere to and promote stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, security, and quality management. Recognize and report all accidents and hazardous conditions
• Quality Inspection tests on repaired vehicles
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

• Possess work-related hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools)

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to meet attendance requirement
• Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
• Ability to drive company and customer vehicles

Preferred

• Valid Class A or Class B, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
