Job summary

The City of Mill Valley seeks a skilled Fleet Maintenance Mechanic II to keep its diverse fleet safe and reliable. This hands-on role performs diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and outfitting on gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, and electronically controlled systems.

Based at the Corporation Yard, you will service automobiles, police vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment, working under general supervision with opportunities to mentor others and improve equipment readiness for city operations.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of fleet maintenance repair experience.
• Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle technology.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic problems in fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Perform repairs and overhauls on gasoline, diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and drive trains.
• Fabricate parts and outfit new equipment (e.g., police vehicles) for City service.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, times, materials, and costs.
