Job summary

UNFI is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance on trailers, tractors, and yard tractors, diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty refrigerated trucks and trailers. You will inspect, repair, and maintain braking systems, electricals, drivetrains, and liftgates while documenting work in the maintenance system.

The role requires 2+ years of mechanical experience or related technical training, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work safely in a dynamic

Qualifications

• Experience: Preferred 2 years of mechanical experience or technical training with 1 year of experience
• Tools: Must have all necessary hand tools
• Driving Experience: Preferred experience in driving/moving Class A equipment
• Certifications: Tire and wheel, brakes, HVAC, and FHWA DOT Inspections preferred
• Ability to repair brakes, rear doors, air systems, and electrical systems with minimal supervision
• Strong teamwork and independent work skills
• Valid driver’s license and must be 21 years of age or older

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and general repairs
• Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including ABS
• Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs
• Repair liftgate systems and fabricate as needed
• Diagnose drivelines, steering, and suspensions
• Maintain accurate repair order entries and time accountability in the RTA Maintenance Program
• Perform tire and wheel end maintenance
• Ensure quality work and production efficiency
• Mentor junior mechanics to enhance their skills
• Complete other relevant duties as required
