The Hawaii Department of Personnel Services seeks an IT professional to plan, supervise, and coordinate a large county information technology program. You will manage Infrastructure/Help Desk staff, ensure security, oversee connectivity, and lead LAN/WAN projects.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree plus four years of related IT experience, including at least one year at a fully competent level. Strong leadership, analytical, and reporting skills are essential.

Plans, supervises and coordinates an extensive information technology program for a large County department or serves as a section chief within the central information technology division; and performs other duties as required. Current vacancy is responsible for the daily administration and supervision of other Infrastructure/Help Desk team members, infrastructure security, communications and internet connectivity, as well as technical support addressing the challenges of the LAN and WAN and project lead on new infrastructure projects.
Minimum Qualification Requirements: Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the filing date of their application, unless otherwise specified. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours per week is equivalent to six months of experience. In addition, hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours per week is equivalent to one year, not one and one-half years.
Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree, and four (4) years of related IT experience, at least one (1) year of which must have been at been at the fully competent level comparable to the Information Technology Analyst III level class.
Knowledge of: principles and practices of administration, supervision, organization, and management; information systems, analysis, design, and development; office systems and procedures; information technology concepts, methods, techniques; functions of computer operating systems; use of auxiliary and peripheral IT equipment; research and analytical methods and techniques.
Ability to: gather, analyze, correlate, and evaluate facts and make sound judgments; determine feasibility of converting various manual work processes to computer operations; analyze and apply machine capabilities to data processing operations; plan efficient organizational structures, work flow procedures and processes, and integrate these in the overall information technology system; prepare clear and concise reports and operating procedures; establish an effective working relationship with vendors, department officials, and other employees; plan, organize, assign, direct, and review the work of others.
Selective Certification: Specialized knowledge, skills and abilities may be required to perform the duties of some positions. In such positions, certification may be restricted to eligibles who possess the pertinent experience and/or training required to perform the duties of the position.
