Qualifications

  • Three or more years of fleet maintenance experience with Class 8 tractors and trailers.
  • Three or more years of maintenance leadership experience.

  • Experience with auto haul equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
  • Current Class A CDL strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance and repair operations for company-owned auto haul tractors, trailers, and support equipment, including in-house shop work and outside vendor repairs.
  • Coordinate timely response to roadside breakdowns, including mobile repairs, towing, driver transportation, and lodging when needed.
  • Work with repair facilities across multiple states to support equipment operating outside the local market, ensuring quality workmanship, timely completion of repairs, and excellent customer service.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and compliance.
  • Monitor fleet performance, maintenance trends, and cost performance to reduce downtime and control operating expenses.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and company policies and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, and repair histories.
  • Oversee parts inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels while controlling costs.
  • Review and approve repair estimates, work orders, purchase orders, and invoices.
  • Partner with Operations and Equipment leadership to prioritize repairs, improve asset utilization, and support service objectives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to fleet reliability, safety, cost control, and financial performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Job Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Manager provides overall leadership for the Auto Transport Group shop in Ogden, Utah, supporting company-owned auto haul equipment. This role oversees maintenance and repair activities for auto haul tractors, trailers, and related equipment to ensure safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective operations. The Fleet Maintenance Manager is accountable for fleet uptime, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, team performance, and financial results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead maintenance and repair operations for company-owned auto haul tractors, trailers, and support equipment, including in-house shop work and outside vendor repairs
  • Coordinate timely response to roadside breakdowns, including mobile repairs, towing, driver transportation, and lodging when needed

Requirements

  • Ability to work in office, shop, and outdoor environments
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, and conduct equipment inspections frequently
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment and varying environmental conditions
