Job summary

Ecowaste Solutions is seeking an experienced Area Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across multiple sites, lead a team of skilled technicians, and ensure our Class 8 fleet remains safe, compliant, and on the road.

The ideal candidate has heavy‑duty diesel repair expertise, at least five years in fleet maintenance with three years in supervision, plus knowledge of DOT/FMSCA/OSHA requirements and fleet software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fleet maintenance experience with Class 8 trucks.
• 3+ years in a supervisory/managerial role.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and maintenance recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair operations for Class 8 vehicles across multiple sites.
• Lead a team of technicians and coordinate external vendors as needed.
• Develop and monitor preventive maintenance schedules to maximize uptime.
• Review work orders, labour efficiency, and parts utilization for cost control.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Monitor fleet lifecycle costs and propose replacements or refurbishments.
• Ensure technicians are trained on diesel systems and diagnostics.
• Drive continuous improvement through productivity and availability metrics.

We are looking for an experienced Area Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across multiple sites, lead a team of skilled technicians, and ensure our fleet stays safe, compliant, and ready to work. Responsibilities

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
• Oversee maintenance and repair operations for Class 8 commercial vehicles, including front-load, rear-load, roll-off, automated side-load, and other specialize vocational equipment
• Ensure proper diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, suspension components, and emission control systems
• Develop and monitor preventative maintenance schedules to maximize fleet reliability and minimize downtime
• Review repair orders, work quality, labor efficiency, and parts utilization to ensure cost-effective maintenance operations
• Monitor equipment lifecycle costs and make recommendations regarding replacement, refurbishment, and capital expenditures
• Maintain compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and environmental regulations relating to fleet maintenance operations
• Coordinate emergency repairs and equipment recovery efforts as necessary.
• Manage outside vendors and service providers to ensure quality repairs and competitive pricing
• Evaluate shop productivity metrics, vehicle availability, maintenance costs, and downtime trends to drive continuous improvement
• Ensure mechanics are properly trained on Class 8 truck systems, diesel diagnostics, hydraulic troubleshooting, and emerging vehicle technologies

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

• Experience: Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible fleet maintenance experience with Class 8 trucks, heavy‑duty diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vocational equipment, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management capacity
• Experience utilizing fleet maintenance software and vehicle management systems
• Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements, compliance standards, and maintenance recordkeeping

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Previous experience managing multiple maintenance facilities and mobile maintenance operations
• Experience with automated refuse collection equipment, compactors, hydraulic packer systems, and vocational truck bodies preferred
• Proven track record of reducing maintenance costs while improving fleet uptime and reliability
