The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, accidents, suicides, sudden health issues, or suspicious circumstances. Responsibilities

The Motor Vehicle Supervisor manages OCME’s Fleet and Logistics equipment, systems, and response capabilities. Responsibilities include overseeing fleet operations, maintaining equipment, supporting disaster response, and ensuring compliance with property records and safety standards. Specific duties include:

  1. Onboarding, training, and monitoring vehicle operators
  2. Ensuring vehicles and response equipment are ready for daily and emergency operations
  3. Monitoring vehicle utilization and scheduling maintenance
  4. Coordinating documentation for fleet and logistics activities
  5. Managing safety inspections and accident investigations
  6. Maintaining equipment and vehicle cleanliness and readiness
  7. Researching and designing specifications for new equipment and procurement processes
  8. Overseeing contractor and vendor services
  9. Using fleet management software to track inventory
  10. Providing logistical support during disaster response and training
  11. Responding to emergencies 24/7 as needed
  12. Maintaining supply chain and asset deployment during emergencies
  13. Performing other related duties
Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of permanent service as a Motor Vehicle Operator, or
  • One year of full-time experience as a motor vehicle dispatcher or automotive service manager
License Requirement

Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in New York State

Additional Requirements

To qualify for Assignment Level II, candidates need:

  • One year as a Motor Vehicle Supervisor, or
  • One additional year in a large automotive service environment
Preferred Skills

CDL Class A license preferred, Hazmat knowledge, ability to drive in all weather and traffic conditions.

Residency Requirement

NYC residency within 90 days of appointment; exceptions apply based on employment history.
