Position Overview: Under general supervision, the Lead Technician is responsible for performing vehicle maintenance, inspections, diagnosing issues, and performing repairs on county-owned vehicles and equipment, following Harris County Fleet Services and OEM standards. The Lead Technician will also oversee a team of technicians, providing guidance, support, and training, and may serve as a backup coordinator to manage productivity and workflow.

Job Duties:

1. Oversee and assist a team of technicians, ensuring quality assurance.
2. Perform vehicle maintenance and inspections of systems including engine, brakes, steering, suspension, A/C, and electrical.
3. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs with a focus on first-time fixes.
4. Conduct quality control inspections on repaired vehicles.
5. Create estimates and communicate with service and parts departments.
6. Assist in training technicians to maintain high standards.
7. Serve as a backup service coordinator as needed.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5-7 years of experience as an automotive technician, with expertise in vehicle systems.
• Ability to work well with others, communicate effectively, and maintain a professional appearance.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.

Additional Information: Must pass a criminal background check, and meet physical and environmental demands. Preferred qualifications include an associate degree in automotive technology or related experience in leadership or fleet maintenance.
