Job summary

The City of Burlington Equipment Services Division seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of heavy trucks and equipment. You will diagnose mechanical and electronic issues, service air and braking systems, and perform preventative maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Responsibilities include tire services, diagnostic assessments, and maintaining repair records using fleet software.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Extensive work experience in heavy duty equipment such as tractors, loaders and large gasoline and diesel trucks.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and repair heavy trucks, trailers, and various equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
• Diagnose and repair issues related to mechanical and electronic systems of city vehicles.
• Perform tire services including flat tire repairs and tire replacements.
• Interpret manuals, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic software to diagnose and repair equipment issues.
• Ensure repairs comply with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
