ABOUT THE CANDIDATE / ROLE

The Overnight Aircraft Operations Readiness Agent is a seasonal position responsible for safely positioning aircraft and preparing the fleet for the next day’s operation during the operating season. This overnight role performs aircraft towing and parking activities, conducts ramp inspections, coordinates with Operations, Dispatch, Maintenance, and flight crews, and completes cabin service and readiness checks for remain-overnight aircraft. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of airport operations, follows aircraft towing and ground support equipment procedures without exception, works effectively with limited supervision, and maintains accurate shift documentation.

The position requires dependable attendance and availability for overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays throughout the seasonal assignment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Review overnight aircraft movements, parking assignments, maintenance restrictions, and morning departure priorities.
  • Tow, reposition, and park aircraft only when trained, qualified, and authorized, following company procedures, aircraft-specific limitations, airport rules, and supervisor direction.
  • Coordinate aircraft movements with the on-duty supervisor and required teams while maintaining ramp and movement-area awareness.
  • Secure remain-overnight aircraft with required chocks, cones, closures, and protective measures.
  • Clean, restock, inspect, and prepare aircraft cabins; report damage, missing equipment, or maintenance concerns.
  • Stage equipment and supplies for morning departures. Ensure the Catering Rooms, Lounge, Operations Center, Administrative Office, aircraft parking areas, equipment storage areas, and other assigned operational areas are clean, organized, fully stocked, free of foreign object debris, and ready for the next day’s operations.
  • Follow airport security, ramp-driving, radio communication, access-control, and restricted-area procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Ground Control using standard aviation phraseology, accurate readbacks, call signs, and disciplined radio procedures.
  • Complete a clear turnover of aircraft status, discrepancies, equipment issues, supply needs, and priorities.
  • Stop work, secure the area where safe to do so, and notify Dispatch of unsafe conditions, unclear instructions, equipment failures, aircraft damage, or security concerns. Resume work only after the condition has been evaluated and authorization has been provided.
  • Support irregular operations and other authorized duties within the employee’s training.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in airport operations, ramp operations, aircraft ground handling, towing, or a related aviation environment preferred.
  • Current aircraft tug and towing qualification are preferred; successful completion of company aircraft-specific towing, ramp safety, and ground support equipment training is required before independent operation.
  • Working knowledge of tow tractors, tow bars, bypass pins, chocks, cones, wing-walker procedures, marshalling signals, and pre-use equipment inspections.
  • Familiarity with airport markings, movement and non-movement areas, ramp safety, radio communication, foreign object debris prevention, and security procedures.
  • Aviation radio proficiency is strongly preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated experience communicating clearly and professionally with Air Traffic Control (ATC), Ground Control, Operations, and ramp personnel using standard aviation phraseology, accurate readbacks, call signs, and disciplined radio procedures
  • Experience with aircraft cabin cleaning, cabin supply replenishment, or cabin appearance standards preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record; ability to obtain and maintain required airport driving and security credentials.
  • Ability to read and follow aircraft-specific procedures, safety instructions, work orders, and operational checklists.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, clear communication skills, and the ability to work independently while escalating concerns promptly.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
  • Reliable availability throughout the seasonal assignment for overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and schedule changes based on operational needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
