Job summary

NAES United Kingdom is seeking an Electrical Support Engineer to provide fleet-wide HV/LV electrical engineering expertise for seven locations across the UK. The role involves extensive travel and home-based work with central base in the West Midlands, Birmingham region.

You will lead outage planning, fault diagnosis and maintenance strategy development while coordinating with station teams, contractors and OEMs to maximise plant availability and lifecycle cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Relevant electrical engineering experience in power generation/heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, switchgear, transformers and protection equipment.
• Experience in electrical fault diagnosis, root cause analysis and reliability improvement.
• Ability to manage electrical engineering projects, outages and contractors.
• Knowledge of UK electrical safety requirements and isolation procedures.
• Experience with CMMS and maintenance planning; proficient with MS Office.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and have a valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide fleet-wide HV and LV electrical engineering support, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and safety practices.
• Investigate faults, protection issues and recurring failures; identify root causes and implement improvements.
• Carry out HV/LV switching, isolation, inspection and testing as trained and authorised.
• Coordinate outages and outages-related activities with stations, contractors and OEMs.
• Develop fleet-wide preventive, corrective and condition-based maintenance strategies using CMMS.
• Evaluate modifications and designs ensuring regulatory compliance and proper reviews.
• Manage electrical projects, including scheduling, budgeting and QA with contractors.
• Maintain electrical asset registers and critical spares for fleet availability.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to plan work and budgets.
• Contribute to fleet engineering strategies to improve performance and lifecycle costs.
• Support electrical, control and instrumentation activities and promote safety culture.
