About the Role:

The Fleet Diesel Mechanical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of a fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, transmissions, and related mechanical systems to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. The technician will work closely with fleet managers to schedule preventative maintenance and respond promptly to mechanical failures or breakdowns. By applying expert mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills, the technician helps maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Ultimately, this role supports the operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the fleet, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal diesel mechanic training program or equivalent technical education.
  • Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic or technician, preferably in a fleet environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and related mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in Medium/Heavy Truck Diesel Engines or related areas.
