Job summary

Johanna Foods in Flemington, New Jersey, is seeking a Garage Mechanic to join a team responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections of a fleet of trailers and yard tractors. You will document parts, repair records, and ensure equipment reliability in a fast-paced food production environment.

The role requires mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, and welding technical training, with experience in diesel engines, ThermoKing units, and DOT inspections.

Qualifications

• Technical training and certifications in mechanical, refrigeration, electrical and welding.
• Welding skills documented via certification or evidence of work experience.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics.
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
• Sufficient base tools to perform duties.
• Knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment.
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools.
• Track record of workplace safety.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required to interact with other Garage Mechanics and management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on brakes, wheels, tires, suspensions, starters, belts, hoses, and related components.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and fluid changes.
• Operate yard jockey tractor to move trailers between yard and garage.
• Diagnose and repair ThermoKing refrigeration units on trailers.
• Diagnose and repair electrical issues on transport equipment.
• Complete DOT inspections on trailers.
