Job Description
Does making the great outdoors your office sound fun and exciting? If so, look no further – Ingram Barge Company is looking to bring new hire deckhands onboard!

Note before applying: These positions are located in both our Port Allen, LA, and Reserve, LA fleets. Job assignment is based on your location. These are fleet work positions, requiring a schedule of 10/5 or 14/7, with the benefit of going home every night.

Important: This is not a liveaboard position. Applicants should live within 45 minutes of Port Allen or Reserve due to commuting requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist deck crew in tow building (laying wires, tightening ratchets, sweeping, and shoveling barges)
• Perform daily vessel housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, cleaning crew quarters)
• Assist with locking procedures
• Carry rigging, pumps, hoses, and lines
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Check barges for water and leaks, sometimes entering confined spaces
• Maintain vessel appearance (washing, chipping, painting)
• Assist the Engineer as needed
• Practice safety procedures and participate in drills and audits
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Diploma or GED required
• Valid Driver’s License
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card
• Pass background check, drug screen, and physical
• Ability to lift up to 110 pounds for 1000 feet
• Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
• Ability to read and write English for regulatory compliance
• Demonstrate safety awareness and teamwork
• Strong communication skills
• Willingness to work extended periods away from home (14-28 days)
