TYPICAL WORK SHIFT/SCHEDULE: Days, Monday - Friday, Overtime is a requirement.

Job Summary: Performs skilled repair work in auto and truck maintenance. Minor painting and body repairs on trucks, automobiles, road maintenance equipment, salt spreaders, and heavy equipment vehicles. Also performs welding/metal fabrication.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; and, minimum of six years of experience in general auto/truck repairs, welding, minor automotive painting and/or body repair work; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Licenses And Certifications: Valid Driver's License. Acquire the following within 12 months from date of hire with the assistance of the city: CDL B operator's license, NH State Motor Vehicle Inspectors license.
Knowledge Of: Tools, materials, methods, and practices used in the automotive painting trade; general Auto and truck repairs; welding and metal fabrication.
Skill In: Performs skilled repairs in servicing, preventative maintenance, and repair of automotive, heavy-duty trucks and equipment, and emergency response vehicles.
Mental And Physical Abilities To: Perform required, related mechanical functions; follow both written and oral instructions; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.; add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions; while performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; exert 20 to 50 pounds of force; frequently lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 100 pounds; climb ladders; use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity; distinguish between shades of color.
Working Conditions: Incumbent will be working near moving mechanical parts and machinery; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; dust, dirt, grease. Incumbent's working conditions are moderately loud. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, respirators, goggles, face shield, and gloves.
