Job summary

Dallas County seeks a skilled automotive mechanic to maintain, repair, and overhaul county vehicles in a busy service shop.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with automotive training, 3 years of repair experience or 45 college hours, and a valid Class B Texas driver license with a clean record. Mandatory pre-employment drug testing applies.

Excellent teamwork, safety awareness, and ability to follow written/work orders are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program and automotive repair training.
  • Three years of automotive repair work related experience or 45 hours of college from an accredited college or university or combination of the two.
  • Knowledgeable of standard software applications; ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes vehicle needs and performs necessary maintenance and repair.
  • Operates shop equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Maintains records of parts replaced, repair work completed and routine maintenance performed.
  • Assists with compressed natural gas conversions and repairs.
  • Ensures work area is kept clean, safe and properly maintained.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
