Job summary

City of New York’s NYPD Fleet Services Division seeks an Auto Body Worker to repair the bodies of NYPD vehicles, including welding and refurbishing damaged sections. The role requires permanent status in the Auto Body Worker civil service title and offers stable city employment in Woodside, NY or Bronx, NY.

Applicants should have extensive full-time auto body experience, plus apprenticeship or equivalent training to meet the remaining years of required experience.

Qualifications

• Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as an auto body worker.
• At least three years of full-time experience plus apprenticeship or training to make up remaining years.
• Certificate of Fitness Type G-60 Torch Use of Flammable Gases for Hot Work Operations required.

Responsibilities

• Repair the body of NYPD vehicles, including refurbishing and replacing damaged sections.
• Perform welding and body repair on various NYPD and contracted vehicles.
• Operate tools in accordance with safety rules and department standards.
