City of New York’s NYPD Fleet Services Division seeks an Auto Body Worker to repair the bodies of NYPD vehicles, including welding and refurbishing damaged sections. **APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE AUTO BODY WORKER CIVIL SERVICE TITLE**

The Fleet Services Division is responsible for the upkeep and/or repair of all NYPD vehicles and vehicles from other contracted city agencies. The duties of the position include making repairs to the body of damaged NYPD Vehicles.

WORK LOCATION: Woodside, NY or Bronx, NY

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In compliance with federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

AUTO BODY WORKER - 92501

Qualifications

Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as an auto body worker; (i.e. a fully trained, knowledgeable, and competent auto body worker) performing body repair work or vehicle modification involving the refurbishing, replacement, disassembling or welding of sectional metal parts of vehicles such as trucks, autos, buses and other motor vehicles or

At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as an auto body worker as described in “1” above, plus sufficient satisfactory full-time experience as an auto body worker apprentice, or training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or technical school, vocational high school, or an accredited college or university to make up the equivalent of the remaining two years of required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of full-time apprentice experience or approved trade school, technical school, vocational high school, or accredited college or university training.

License Requirements

Possession of a Certificate of Fitness Type G-60 Torch Use of Flammable Gases for Hot Work Operations issued by the New York City Fire Department. At the time of appointment, appointees will be required to possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. Employees must maintain the Certification of Fitness and the Motor Vehicle Driver License during their employment.
